I didn't watch he F1 so your rationale for that being he reason people wanted one is complete nonsense - I'm the one who asked the original question! People have real life to deal with - and sometimes that means not being able to make a race - especially leading up the festive period. Including endurance races this is such a poor stance not to have dropped rounds. For the amount of people that have raced in series racing in the past this must have been obvious.
The points system doesn't enable people to have a shot at the championship at all if you miss a round. You can loose a maximum of 200 points by not turning up, while only 15extra to win a race over 2nd. In a tight battle if you miss one week you have to have a margin of 30 or more points a week for 7rounds to regain those points and when it's unlikely the championship leaders are going to come below 3rd/4th in a race that's a tall order. So not sure how it's skewed to suit people missing rounds at all - the only way you can do that is dropped rounds like every other racing series ever in the past 5/6 years has done.
